Chiesa di Santa Caterina

From here, going down Via Santa Caterina, the road immediately reaches piazza della Concordia, characterized by a lush garden and by the spectacular backdrop of the southern façade of the ex monastery of the Benedettine – the Benedictine monks. Here the church of Santa Caterina reigns supreme: built for the first time in the 16th century, it was rebuilt between 1725 and 1730 according to the style of the late Baroque, in vogue in Paternò at the time. The interior boasts a magnificent inlaid marble floor in neoclassical style, a monumental altarpiece with the Martyrdom of Saint Catherine, a wooden Crucifix of the 15th century and other interesting works.
